10-1-1: Building Codes Adopted By Reference: There are hereby adopted by reference the following regulations governing all single-family residential buildings and appurtenances, multi-family residential buildings and appurtenances, and all other buildings and structures hereinafter erected, installed, altered, converted, remodeled or structurally repaired, demolished, moved or their use or occupancy established or changed collectively to be known as the Oak Brook Building Code Regulations.

A. International building code: 2009 edition, including appendix chapters A, C, E, F, G, H, and I, published by the International Code Council, Inc.


B. International residential code: 2009 edition, including appendix chapters A, B, C, D, E, G, H, I, J, K, M, O, and Q, published by the International Code Council, Inc.


C. International mechanical code: 2009 edition, including appendix chapter A, published by the International Code Council, Inc.


D. State of Illinois plumbing code: 2014 edition, published by the Illinois department of public health.


E. National electric code (NEC): 2008 edition, published by the National Fire Protection Association.


F. State of Illinois safety code for elevators and escalators is adopted without amendment as follows:

a. Safety code for elevators and escalators (ASME A17.1-2010/CSA B44-07) and performance based safety code for elevators and escalators (ASME A17.7-2007/CSA B44.7-07);

c. Safety code for existing elevators and escalators (ASME A17.3-2005), but only as required under section 35(h) and (i) of the act and subsection F1d of this section;

d. Safety standard for platform lifts and stairway chairlifts (ASME A18.1-2008);

e. Standards for the qualification of elevator inspectors (ASME QEI-1-2010).

J. International fuel gas code: 2009 edition, including appendix chapters A, B, C, and D published by the International Code Council, Inc.


K. International electrical code - administrative provisions: 2009 edition, published by the International Code Council, Inc.


L. Those sections of the international plumbing code: 2009 edition, including appendix chapters C and F, published by the International Code Council, Inc., which address subjects not expressly governed by the state of Illinois plumbing code, 2014 edition, published by the Illinois department of public health.


M. Illinois accessibility code: 1997 edition, published by the state of Illinois capitol development board.

Energy Code
International Council Code has been awarded federal funding to provide the 2015 International Energy Conservation Code as part of an initiative to meet nationwide energy-efficiency goals through the Building Technologies Program and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
