The Oak Brook Polo Club has renewed its partnership with the Village of Oak Brook and is thrilled to announce Sunday, June 11th as Opening Day of the 2017 Polo Season. Themed ‘Chicago Polo Day’, the match will kick off another exciting year of “hockey on horseback” at Oak Brook’s Prince of Wales Field (2606 York Road), located just 17 miles from Chicago’s Loop. This year, the Club will play host to seven polo matches featuring both out-of-state and international teams.
The 2017 summer schedule includes the return of the “Commander’s Cup” and “Horses & Horsepower” events, in addition to the “Chicago Polo Cup” which features some of the Midwest’s best teams and players. The “International Polo Series” will feature visiting international teams eyeing to compete for some of Oak Brook Polo’s most prestigious trophies, including the Drake Challenge Cup and International Cup.
2017 marks Oak Brook Polo Club’s 95th season as one of the nation’s oldest polo clubs in operation today and fourth oldest sports property in Chicago. With many iterations over the years, the first season dates back to 1922 when Polo visionary Paul Butler first established the Oak Brook Polo Club. He expanded his polo operation to fourteen fields, plus built the necessary horse stables to serve the visiting teams. Eventually, Oak Brook became one of the “polo capitals” of the world with Butler’s son, famed HAIR producer Michael Butler, and daughter, philanthropist Jorie Butler Kent, acting as the club’s stewards through the years. The summer Polo seasons were not only the stomping ground for celebrities and notables alike for decades but also the destination for American Polo players and enthusiasts.
Oak Brook Polo offers a variety of ticket options which include lawn seating for $10.00 per person and limited tailgating spots for $45.00 per vehicle. Club Guest seating is available field-side in the Michigan Avenue Magazine Polo Lounge for $40.00 per person, which includes elevated seating and complimentary divot stomp champagne; Polo Lounge tables seat up for eight and can be reserved for $300 while private field-side tents that seat up to sixteen are available for $650.00. Brunch tickets are available for $80.00 per person and include the Club Guest ticket to the Michigan Avenue magazine Polo Lounge.
All ticket holders will have access to The Drake Oak Brook Hotel bars, which will be serving up Classic Pimm’s Chukkers and Veuve Clicquot Champagne, in addition to Chicago’s best food trucks and restaurants on site serving gourmet bites.
