Beginning the week of May 25th construction will begin on several projects within the Village that will impact vehicle traffic. The projects include the widening and beautification of Windsor Dr north of 22nd St., intersection improvements at York Rd & Harger Rd, and construction of a Bike Path Underpass on Harger Rd.
Windsor Drive Widening and Beautification
The Windsor Drive Widening and Beautification Project, which kicked off in spring of 2020, includes the reconstruction and widening of Windsor Drive from Bliss Drive to Swift Road, converting the existing two lane road to a four lane road with two lanes in each direction, divided by landscaped medians. The project includes the installation of storm sewers, landscape lighting and irrigation systems, along with other features.
Safety enhancements include new roadway lighting, improved visibility and a new sidewalk that will run along the west and north side of Windsor Drive and improve pedestrian safety and access to the bus stop at 22nd Street.
The Village is investing in this project to add traffic capacity based on new property developments that have occurred in this area over the last few years, as well development that is projected for the future. Many businesses, hotels reside along this busy corridor, including Advocate Health Care, Chamberlain Group, Oak Brook Office Court, Hyatt House, Rush Oak Brook, Blistex and others.
