[ARCHIVED] Bath & Tennis Club -- Aquatics Season Update

Swim & Tennis

Dear Bath and Tennis Club Members,

The Park District staff met with the Village staff at the Bath & Tennis Club this morning to discuss progress with the ongoing construction of the pools. The Village staff informed the Park District staff that approximately 15 working days are needed for the project to be completed. This requires the contractor to be consistently on-site and working full days with full crews and supplies. The contractor last sent three workers to the site Friday, May 21, and has yet to send any crews this week. The contractor continues to be non-responsive with the Village staff.

We are now anticipating the pools will not open until July 3rd.

Based on this latest information, the Park District has decided to automatically refund 50% of the cost of your Unlimited Membership. We will also honor requests for those who would like a full refund. We will monitor construction progress as we approach July 3 and provide any additional updates.

If you wish to receive a full refund, please contact Dave Thommes at dthommes@obparks.org. Otherwise, we will begin processing your 50% refund over the coming days. No action is required on your part to receive the 50% refund. This partial refund means you are still a member of the Bath & Tennis Club and should the pools open earlier than July 3, you will have immediate access.

If you elect for a full refund, any future membership applications for the 2021 season will be treated on a first-come, first-serve basis, with residents and former members receiving priority.

For those families with younger children who are now looking for a new swim option for the summer, Splash Island is the Park District’s outdoor aquatic playground! It features a zero-depth entry pool up to 24 inches deep, slides, interactive features, dumping buckets, jets, and other spray features. Families can enjoy the sundeck, perfect for lounging poolside while the kids play, with reclining chairs and overhead shade structures. Also on the deck is a fire pit and a separate covered party area. Summer Splash Island memberships are available. If you are interested in transferring part of your refund into a Splash Island membership, please let us know when you submit your refund request. For more information on the facility please visit: https://www.obparks.org/facilities/splash-island.

The Oak Brook Park District prides itself on providing the very best in park and recreational opportunities, facilities, and open lands for our community and we regret that we were not allowed to do so in this instance.

We sincerely apologize for the frustration and disappointment.

Sincerely,

Dave Thommes
Deputy Director
Oak Brook Park District
