Oak Brook Fire Department Lieutenant Kyle Matousek was honored at the Village Board of Trustees meeting on Tuesday, October 11th for receiving a second place award for an essay he submitted to answer the question " How can Fire Company Officers exhibit exceptional leadership."
A first in the industry, Darley hosted an essay competition open to anyone in the fire service to source fresh ideas on leadership from the company officer’s perspective. The competition allows members of the fire service to share their ideas on company officer leadership in an environment that rewards excellence in writing and thought. “We’re bringing something completely new to the fire service. Through this contest, we hope our customers can learn from each other by sharing company officer perspectives on leadership in the fire service, ” said Paul Darley, president and CEO.
