Portable Speed Display

The Portable Speed Display monitors motorist's speeds and displays the vehicle's speed for the driver to see. Studies show that use of speed displays effectively reduces vehicle speeds. The Police Department primarily uses the portable speed display in residential neighborhoods to gain voluntary compliance of posted speed limits. The portable speed display is also equipped with a computer system that is capable of recording the number of vehicles and speeds during a pre-determined period of time. The collection of this traffic data can be utilized to determine if a specific area has a traffic safety issue.
