The Village was recognized by the Illinois Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service (Serve Illinois) with the Governor’s Hometown Project Award for the category of Disaster Services/Public Safety for the 9/11 Memorial Healing Field, September 2017. Police Chief James Kruger and our partner for the event, True Patriots Care Foundation President Jerry Christopherson traveled to Springfield to give a presentation to the Selection Committee. Last Tuesday, November 20th, the award was presented to the Village at a ceremony at the Governor’s Mansion. Yesterday evening Chief Kruger and Mr. Christopherson presented the award to President Lalmalani and the Village Board. The Village also received the street sign to post in the Village designating Oak Brook as a Hometown Award winner. The Governor’s Hometown Awards are in recognition of Outstanding Achievements to make Illinois an ideal State in which to Work, Live and Conduct Business.
