[ARCHIVED] Oak Brook Park District Controlled Burn Announcement

Prescribed Burn

The Oak Brook Park District would like to inform Village residents that a controlled burn of the prairies at the Dean Nature Sanctuary located at 115 Canterberry Lane in Oak Brook will be taking place soon. The work will take place over the course of two days.

The Park District expects the burn to take place over two days between December 2nd and 9th, and between the hours of 7am and 4pm . While the burn is underway, you may see and smell smoke in and around the Dean Nature Sanctuary. The burn is conducted by a team of licensed prescribed burn contractors who are on site before, during, and after the burn is complete. Controlled burns are necessary for the health and development of native prairie habitats like those found at the Dean Nature Sanctuary. Without burns, invasive trees, shrubs, and weeds invade local habitats and shade out native plants.

If you have any questions, please contact Bob Johnson at the Oak Brook Park District at 630-645-9540.

Thank you for your kind attention.
